1. IJESAS took to the street of Manhattan
for the Nigeria Golden Independence Day Parade.
Proud to be a Nigerian of Ijesa- Yoruba
heritage. HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY NIGERIA!
This years Nigerian Independence Day Parade
organized by the Organization for Advancement of
Nigeria brought a lot of nostalgia for the good
old days in Nigeria. The Ijesas always proud of
their Nigerian Yoruba heritage were not left
behind. In this video they took their place
among other proud Diasporan Nigerians as they
dance to traditional drums of Baba Ibeji Onilu
group with Adamo music lead by Niyi Ajetomobi
the Aladamo of Ijesa.
After the Parade, the Ijesas took it to the
square on 47th street in Manhattan, NY with
traditional drums to the admiration of all. In
this video, the Otun Owaseye of Ilesa Chief Jide
Odeyemi cheers Aladamo Ijesa Niyi Ajetomobi as
he danced to the beat. Attorney Janet Fashakin,
Mrs Deborah Obideyi and a proud African lady
also took to the dancing floor with the Chief
himself.
The Ijesas of the Yoruba ethnic group of
Nigeria, (aka "the Osomalos") are specially bred
and well endowed people, vast in colorful
traditions, very industrious, arrogantly honest,
unapologetically educated and unashamedly
hardworking.
